Ahniyah Bennett leads a balanced attack to beat Franklin County

Recap: Connersville Spartans vs. Franklin County Wildcats

On Friday, the Connersville Spartans's game was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 36-27 victory over Franklin County. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 10 to 2 on the offensive boards, as Connersville did.

Connersville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ahniyah Bennett, who scored eight points along with four steals. Bennett has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Jones, who scored nine points along with two steals.

Despite the loss, Franklin County still got an impressive performance from Nicole Mears, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 51.9% of Franklin County's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Franklin County struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Connersville's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Franklin County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Connersville will take on Pendleton Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Franklin County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hagerstown at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Hagerstown comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
