Baseball Recap: Villa Madonna Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Villa Madonna got themselves on the board against Dayton on Tuesday, but Dayton never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Greendevils. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Ryan Timm and Tyler Brandstetter made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Timm tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Brandstetter pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Villa Madonna is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3-1 otherwise. At the plate, Timm scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5, while Brandstetter got no hits from his three at bats. Timm also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Joe Rice looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Villa Madonna is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4-1 otherwise.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Ben Murray-Cirulli was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
