East Ridge had lost eight games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 3-15 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pioneers have posted since March 4th.

Austin Dial was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

As for Howard Tech, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since April 12, 2024.

On Howard Tech's side, Sean Besley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mekhai Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

East Ridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against Howard Tech: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
