Preview: Oberlin The Phoenix vs. Brookside Cardinals
The Oberlin The Phoenix will be home for the holidays to greet the Brookside Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Oberlin: they have been struggling with seven straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Brookside has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-34, which was the final score in Oberlin's tilt against Keystone on Friday. Oberlin has not had much luck with Keystone recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Oberlin got a solid performance out of Sunil Green, who scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Korrie Freeman, who scored seven points.
Even though Brookside has not done well against Columbia recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The stars were shining brightly for Brookside in a 61-43 victory over Columbia. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Brookside has managed all season.
Oberlin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Brookside, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Oberlin came up short against Brookside when the teams last played back in February, falling 69-63. Can Oberlin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
