Baseball Game Preview: Freehold Township Patriots vs. Raritan Rockets

The Freehold Township Patriots will face off against the Raritan Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Freehold Township 3.8, Raritan 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Wednesday, Freehold Township didn't have quite enough to beat Red Bank Regional and fell 3-2.

Raritan had taken St. John-Vianney down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Rockets fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 3-2. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Raritan got a good showing from Bear Evernham, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Evernham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Raritan saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alan Warren, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Raritan's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Freehold Township, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-5.

Freehold Township suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Raritan in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
