Baseball Recap: Chester Has No Trouble Against Eau Claire

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Stanly, Chester was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Eau Claire Shamrocks. The Cyclones haven't had any issues with the Shamrocks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jakoby Kennedy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Kennedy was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with six RBI and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tucker Evans, who went 2-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Chester: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-10-1 otherwise. Jason Stevens was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Chester's win bumped their record up to 6-10-1. As for Eau Claire, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Chester is set to challenge their familiar foe Columbia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Eau Claire will square off against rival Clinton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
