Football Recap: Basic's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Clark on Saturday, Basic came back down to earth. The Basic Wolves received a blow on Saturday as they fell 20-6 to the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners. The matchup marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

A big part of Southeast Career Tech's victory came down to the chemistry between Leyla Randolph and her top target Jayla Elfberg. Randolph threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of her passes while Elfberg picked up 114 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 60 yards.

Basic moved to 6-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Southeast Career Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Basic will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cheyenne at 4:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Basic is facing Cheyenne at the right time seeing as Cheyenne is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Southeast Career Tech has already played their next matchup, a 20-0 win against Pinecrest Academy Cadence on the 21st.
