Volleyball Recap: Shiner Gets the Win

Shiner hadn't done well against Schulenburg recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Comanches walked away with a 2-0 win over the Shorthorns. That's more bragging rights for the Comanches, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-23.

Shiner's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Schulenburg, their loss ended a 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-6.

Shiner will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rice Consolidated at 4:30 p.m. on September 5. As for Schulenburg, they will square off against Weimar at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Shorthorns surely won't give up without a fight.
