Baseball Recap: Miami Takes a Loss

Miami was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against the Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans, falling 15-4. The Vandals were not able to make up for their loss to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Miami saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Madrid, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Madrid posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February.

Miami's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Gilbert Classical Academy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4-1.

Looking ahead, Miami will challenge Duncan at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Miami's pitchers better be ready for this one: Duncan has averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Gilbert Classical Academy, they will square off against Lincoln Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Prep has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.3 runs per game on average), something Gilbert Classical Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
