Softball Recap: Glenbard East's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Glenbard East dropped their record down to 7-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the West Chicago Wildcats by a score of 2-0. The Rams were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Wildcats' pitcher proved too tough.

As for West Chicago, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.

For West Chicago's part, Jasmyn Trigueros made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Trigueros has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Glenbard East and West Chicago should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Rams will face off against Fenton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (84 vs. 374). Meanwhile, West Chicago (ranked 135th) will meet Elmwood Park (ranked 408th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
