Baseball Recap: Perry Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Le Roy, Perry was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Avon Braves, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellowjackets have posted since May 18, 2024.

Beau Solcum was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Perry: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maximus Siewert, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Perry's record now sits at 4-5. As for Avon, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Perry and Avon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Yellowjackets will take on Keshequa at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (455 vs. 170). Meanwhile, Avon (ranked 553rd) will meet Livonia (ranked 130th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
