Recap: Monroe Trojans vs. Riverview Pirates
The Monroe Trojans''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 27-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riverview. While losing is never fun, Monroe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Riverview is ranked 89th).
Monroe's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-3 Pioneer (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.7% over those games). As for Riverview, the victory was the seventh in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Riverview will be playing at home against Trenton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Trenton is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
