Basketball Game Preview: Cleburne Yellowjackets vs. Burleson Elks

The Cleburne Yellowjackets will head out to face off against the Burleson Elks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cleburne will be strutting in after a win while Burleson will be coming in after a loss.

Cleburne will head into Friday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Jefferson on Friday. Cleburne was the clear victor by a 59-39 margin over Jefferson. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Yellowjackets have posted since December 5th.

Burleson has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Medina Valley on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while the Panthers are ranked 215th).

Cleburne's win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Burleson, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Everything came up roses for Cleburne against Burleson when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 65-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cleburne since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
