Basketball Game Preview: Cowan Blackhawks vs. Randolph Southern Rebels

Cowan and Randolph Southern are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Cowan Blackhawks will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Randolph Southern Rebels at 7:30 p.m. Randolph Southern took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Cowan, who comes in off a win.

Cowan is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 79-56 margin over Union City on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Blackhawks in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won nine in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cowan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brody Clifford, who went 10-for-14 to rack up 27 points. The dominant performance gave Clifford a new career-high in points. Luke Garrett was another key player, going 9-for-14 en route to 23 points and six rebounds.

Cowan was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Randolph Southern came up short against Seton Catholic on Tuesday and fell 58-47.

Cowan's victory bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Randolph Southern, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-9.

Cowan was able to grind out a solid win over Randolph Southern in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 61-54. Will Cowan repeat their success, or does Randolph Southern have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
