Basketball Game Preview: Navajo Pine Warriors vs. Dulce Hawks

Navajo Pine is 1-9 against Dulce since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Navajo Pine Warriors will face off against the Dulce Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Navajo Pine is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. The contest between them and Rehoboth Christian didn't end well, with Navajo Pine falling 42-28.

Despite the loss, Navajo Pine saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Riley Dawes went 7 of 16 on her way to 17 points and six rebounds. Dawes is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Faila King was another key player, putting up nine points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Dulce was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 39-38 to Ramah. While the Hawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 15-7 in the first quarter.

Dulce's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Navajo Pine, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Navajo Pine came up short against Dulce in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 39-28. Can Navajo Pine avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
