Baseball Recap: Daleville Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Daleville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Elwood on Saturday. The Broncos blew past the Panthers 8-2. That's more bragging rights for the Broncos, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tripp Pitts tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, Caleb Aikin was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Noah Colvin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Daleville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elwood only managed five hits.

The win keeps Daleville at an undefeated 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.3 runs this season. As for Elwood, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Daleville will take on Madison-Grant at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Elwood, they will take on Alexandria-Monroe in a tournament on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
