Stuart W. Cramer hasn't had much luck against Kings Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Storm will head out on the road to square off against the Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. Stuart W. Cramer's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Kings Mountain's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Stuart W. Cramer fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Langtree Charter Academy on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 4-3. The Storm have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Stuart W. Cramer got a good showing from Ridge Nixon, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nixon has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Stuart W. Cramer saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aydan Bradley, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Kings Mountain can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against Stuart W. Cramer by a score of 7-4.
Wesley Turner was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Kings Mountain is 2-1 when Turner allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Turner was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Jordan Buckner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Luke Heavner was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and one run.
Kings Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.
Stuart W. Cramer's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Kings Mountain, their record now sits at 10-11.
Stuart W. Cramer couldn't quite get it done against Kings Mountain in their previous meeting on Tuesday as they fell 7-4. Can the Storm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
