Recap: Crooms Academy Panthers vs. Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks
This season hasn't been kind to the Crooms Academy Panthers, who are still winless after their tenth match. They took a serious blow against Cornerstone Charter Academy on Tuesday, falling 69-28. Crooms Academy has not had much luck with Cornerstone Charter Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Crooms Academy still got an impressive performance from Zoe Fulgencio, who scored 18 points. That was a full 64.3% of Crooms Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Hassaballah, who scored ten points.
Cornerstone Charter Academy was led to victory by Fernanda Sanchez and Grace Jervis. Sanchez scored 14 points, while Jervis scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jervis has scored all season. Makenah Maddox was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Crooms Academy dropped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Crooms Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Warner Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they will face off against Old Plank Christian Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Hopefully Old Plank Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday.
