Basketball Recap: Nicole Hollaway's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Selma over Briarwood Christian

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Selma can now relate to. They lost to the Briarwood Christian Lions on the road by a 44-28 margin on Thursday. The game marked the Saints' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nicole Hollaway, who posted seven points. That's the most points Hollaway has posted since back in December of 2024.

Emma Kerley was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds for Briarwood Christian. That makes it four consecutive games in which Kerley has scored at least a third of Briarwood Christian's points. Sasha Munikar was another key player, putting up eight points.

Selma's defeat dropped their record down to 20-4. As for Briarwood Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 21-11 record this season.

Selma does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Briarwood Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-42 loss against Marbury on the 18th.
