Football Recap: Waynedale Drops Season-High Score on Chippewa

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waynedale). They strolled past the Chippewa Chipps with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 23-7. The Golden Bears haven't had any issues with the Chipps recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Maddox Kidd went supernova, rushing for 120 yards and two scores on only eight carries, while also throwing for 116 yards and one touchdown. Those 120 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Waynedale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jayden Hochstetler.

Waynedale's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Chippewa, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Waynedale will square off against Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Bears will be up against the Huskies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.38 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Chippewa, they will challenge Dalton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
