Baseball Recap: Centennial's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Centennial dropped their record down to 15-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 23-3 to the Corona Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Huskies have suffered against the Panthers since April 27, 2022.

Centennial saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Mendoza, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

As for Corona, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Corona's side, they got a massive performance out of Anthony Murphy, who fired off three home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-7. Those six RBI gave Murphy a new career-high. Gavin Flores was another key player, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-6.

While Centennial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
