Baseball Recap: Jayden Molands Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Powell County

Wolfe County won against Knott County Central on Wednesday with two runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Wolves' pitcher stepped up to hand the Powell County Pirates a 2-0 shutout. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Max Whisman's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wolfe County's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Molands, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Molands has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

Wolfe County's victory bumped their record up to 22-11. As for Powell County, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-17.

As of now, neither Wolfe County nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
