Strong second half lifts the Spartans over spunky and ninth-ranked Mustangs; No. 14 Wilcox overwhelmes No. 12 Los Gatos and 19th-ranked California surprises No. 7 Clayton Valley Charter.

Host and ninth-ranked Monte Vista (Danville) put up a good fight or a half, but
Shamar Garrett, who earlier scored on a long punt return and 5-yard run, zoomed to paydirt on a 55-yard jaunt, lifting top-ranked De La Salle (Concord) to a 49-14 victory on Friday night.
Up just 28-14 at halftime, the Spartans scored three unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter to extend its Northern California unbeaten streak to 304 games.
In other big games for San Francisco Top 25 teams,
Paul M. Rosa returned from injury to rush for 230 yards and two scores leading Wilcox (Santa Clara) to a surprising 37-0 win over Los Gatos.
Junior running back
Shane Moran rushed for 134 yards and one touchdowns and quarterback
Jackson Pavitt accounted for 165 yards and two more scores leading No. 6 Cardinal Newman to a 24-14 win at No. 24 Rancho Cotate.
Senior quarterback
Grant Harper threw three touchdown passes, two to
Maxwell Weaver, and
Ryan O'Neil rushed for two scores, leading No. 12 Campolindo-Moraga to a 35-7 win over Alhambra.
