Football Recap: North Augusta Piles Up the Points Against Brookland-Cayce

North Augusta won the last time they faced Brookland-Cayce and things went their way on Friday too. The Yellow Jackets claimed a resounding 58-12 win over the Bearcats. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 24 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Brookland-Cayce saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Antwoine Lawson picked up two sacks, forced one fumble, and made ten total tackles (3.0 for loss). Mekhi Pringle also helped out with an impressive 80 receiving yards.

The victory was the third in a row for North Augusta, bringing their record up to 8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.3 points on average over those games. As for Brookland-Cayce, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Augusta will square off against Midland Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Brookland-Cayce, they will challenge Airport at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bearcats will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
