Game recap: Tylertown High School Football Team defeats North Pike

SUMMIT, Miss. - Tylertown (Miss.) put an additional 12 points on the board on top of its 31-point lead going into the fourth quarter to beat out North Pike (Summit, Miss.) 51-8.

After taking the lead on a Tyre'oune Holmes touchdown run in the first quarter, the Chiefs led 24-8 at the half.

Tylertown expanded its lead to 31 points entering the fourth quarter. THS scored three times in the third, including once on a Chris Jones touchdown run.

The Chiefs' most effective player was Holmes. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 17 touchdowns on the season.



The Jaguars' LaDarrius Coney played well. The junior wide receiver caught one touchdown.

North Pike's lone touchdown came on a 10-yard pass from Austin Smith to Coney in the second quarter.

Tylertown went into the matchup giving up only 17.1 points per game. The eight points that NP ended with were right around its average of 7.6 coming into the game.

When the two teams played each other last season, THS came away with a 48-7 victory.

With the win the Chiefs extended their winning streak to four games.

North Pike (3-6) will play a 4A Region 7 game against South Pike next week, while Tylertown (8-1) will take on Columbia also in a 4A Region 7 game.
