Westview piles up the points against Bellevue East

Recap: Westview vs. Bellevue East Chieftains

Westview scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Bellevue East 77-49 on the road. Given Westview's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Bellevue East is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Westview to victory were John Sims and Tayvin Murphy. Sims scored 16 points along with five assists and four steals, while Murphy scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him. Tzyon Patterson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.

Despite the loss, Bellevue East saw an underclassman step up: TayJon Morton-Swift scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morton-Swift has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Tolbert, who scored seven points.

Westview now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Bellevue East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Westview and Elkhorn South will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Elkhorn South is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.7 points per game. Bellevue East and Creighton Prep will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Creighton Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
