Soccer Game Preview: Lick-Wilmerding vs. Marin Academy

Lick-Wilmerding hasn't had much luck against Marin Academy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lick-Wilmerding challenge the Marin Academy at 3:15 p.m. Lick-Wilmerding will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Lick-Wilmerding's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over San Domenico. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Panthers are ranked 799th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lick-Wilmerding hit San Domenico with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Zach Eskanazi, Atticus English, and Mateo Monfiglio.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in January, Marin Academy was forced to settle for a draw on Saturday. Neither they nor University could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Lick-Wilmerding has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3-1 record this season. Marin Academy's draw gives them a new season record of 6-7-4.

Lick-Wilmerding came out on top in a nail-biter against Marin Academy in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lick-Wilmerding since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
