Volleyball Recap: Derby Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Derby was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Ansonia Chargers, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 two weeks ago.

Despite the defeat, Derby saw an underclassman step up: freshman Emely Gutarra had 12 digs and one assist. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Gutarra.

Derby's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Ansonia, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Derby will head out to challenge Whitney RVT at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ansonia, they will venture away from home to face off against Naugatuck at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
