Preview: East Nashville Magnet Eagles vs. Dyersburg Trojans
East Nashville Magnet has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Dyersburg Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Nashville Magnet has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 243 points over their last six matches.
East Nashville Magnet had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Liberty Creek 41-14 at home. East Nashville Magnet might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.
Elijah Usher and Kelan Anderson were among the main playmakers for East Nashville Magnet as the former rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Anderson has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
East Nashville Magnet's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Ladonnis Mcglothen jr. and Tion Curry who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Dyersburg put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They pulled ahead with a 25-24 photo finish over Covington.
East Nashville Magnet pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.3 points per game. As for Dyersburg, their victory bumped their record up to 13-0.
East Nashville Magnet was able to grind out a solid victory over Dyersburg in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, winning 20-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Nashville Magnet since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
