Baseball Recap: Socastee Comes Up Short

Socastee was the 4-3 winner over Conway when they last played one another last Wednesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Braves took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Friday.

Socastee got a good showing from Josh Keyser, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits Keyser has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Socastee saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jimmy Cocca, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-3.

Socastee dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Conway, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Socastee will take on St. James at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Conway, they will challenge Carolina Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
