Baseball Game Preview: Attica Blue Devils vs. Pembroke Dragons

The Attica Blue Devils will face off against the Pembroke Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Attica has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Attica came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Batavia, falling 25-2. The defeat continues a trend for Attica in their meetings with Batavia: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pembroke). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Alexander a 13-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Dragons have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Hayden Williams, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Alexander off the board.

On the hitting side, Brayden Lang was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Owen Shultz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Pembroke has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Attica, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
