Chapin took a 22-point loss the last time they faced off against Del Valle, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Huskies won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Conquistadores 23-22. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Huskies' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 629th, while the Conquistadores are ranked 191st).

It was another big night for Daveon Singleton, who rushed for 149 yards and one score while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 59 yards.

Chapin didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Del Valle to a completion percentage of just 45.5%. The team can thank Devon Harris for the heroic effort on defense: he. Given Singleton's standout performance, it's clear Del Valle's secondary just wasn't on the same level.

Despite the loss, Del Valle still got an impressive performance from Jake Fette, who rushed for 221 yards and two TDs while picking up 13.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 151 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Dante Eytcheson, who gained 114 total yards and a touchdown.

The win got Chapin back to even at 3-3. As for Del Valle, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Meanwhile, Del Valle is set to challenge their familiar foe Hanks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,002 yards in their previous games.
