Bowsher dropped their record down to 7-3-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Ecorse Raiders, falling 10-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the BlueRacers, who until this matchup were averaging 3.36 runs allowed.
Bowsher saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaiden Oliphant, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
As for Ecorse, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games.
On Ecorse's side, Kaleb Chandler and Jefferson De La Cruz made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Chandler didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, De La Cruz pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Chandler went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base, while De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, De La Cruz is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Ecorse let Darwin Udenata and Julio Nunez run wild. Udenata went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Nunez went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Udenata has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Darby, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Bowsher didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Lima Senior on the 28th. As for Ecorse, they have also already played their next game, a 13-0 victory against Canton Preparatory on the 28th.
