Soccer Game Preview: Cypress Ridge vs. Northbrook

The Cypress Ridge Rams will challenge the Northbrook Raiders at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cypress Ridge took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Cypress Creek onto the board and left with a 4-0 win. Considering the Rams have won three games by more than three goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Northbrook entered their tilt with Cypress Falls on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Eagles. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Eagles are ranked 415th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northbrook's one-goal win came courtesy of Kevin Garay, who's now up to five this season.

Cypress Ridge's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those six contests. As for Northbrook, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3-2 record this season.

Cypress Ridge came up short against Northbrook in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Cypress Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
