Baseball Game Preview: Morris Redskins vs. Streator Bulldogs

The Morris Redskins will head out to square off against the Streator Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morris has ten straight victories, Streator has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Morris beats Streator with ten runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Everything went the Redskins' way against Sycamore on Wednesday as they made off with a 10-1 win. Considering the Redskins have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

East Peoria hit Streator with a six-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs came up short against the Raiders, falling 13-1.

Cole Winterrowd made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. Streator is 4-1 when Winterrowd posts three or more hits, but 7-18 otherwise.

Morris pushed their record up to 22-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Streator, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-19.

Morris took their victory against Streator when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redskins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
