Softball Recap: Hilliard Darby Starts Season with Victory Against St. Francis Desales

Hilliard Darby had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the St. Francis DeSales Stallions with a sharp 17-3 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Gabby Jordan tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Lorelai Gum was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Deanna Tejada was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

St. Francis DeSales now has a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Hilliard Darby will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Wooster at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Francis DeSales, they will challenge Newark Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
