Baseball Recap: Tuscaloosa Home Educators' Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Tuscaloosa Home Educators's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the East Central HomeSchool Patriots with a sharp 13-5 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Jackson Sodergren was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Tuscaloosa Home Educators' success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Sodergren was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those five runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Poland, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Mercado, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
