Basketball Game Preview: Bronaugh Wildcats vs. Chilhowee Indians

Bronaugh is on a three-game streak of home losses, Chilhowee a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Bronaugh Wildcats will host the Chilhowee Indians at 7:00 p.m. Bronaugh is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.

Bronaugh will head into Tuesday's contest out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They lost 61-40 to Montrose. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Blue Jays since January 7, 2022.

Bronaugh might have lost, but man, Strauss Banes was a machine: he posted 22 points along with five assists and three steals. Banes has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Luke Bowling was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Even though they lost, Bronaugh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Chilhowee came up short against Drexel on Wednesday and fell 53-40.

Chilhowee's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Bronaugh, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

Bronaugh came out on top in a nail-biter against Chilhowee in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, sneaking past 44-42. Will Bronaugh repeat their success, or does Chilhowee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
