Volleyball Recap: Mapletown Takes a Loss

Mapletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Greene Pioneers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Maples of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

While Mapletown ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-17, 18-25, 25-17.

Treslee Weston paced Mapletown's offense, picking up 14 kills. Weston got some help from Marley Shiflett and her 15 assists. Weston was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Mapletown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for West Greene, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mapletown is set to challenge their familiar foe Jefferson-Morgan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, West Greene will take on rival Carmichaels at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
