Volleyball Recap: Mauldin Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Eastside

Mauldin faced Eastside in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Mavericks took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Mavericks in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

While Mauldin was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-17.

Owen Hamric was the offensive standout of the game as he had four digs and one assist.

Mauldin's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Eastside, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Coincidentally, Mauldin and Eastside will both be playing Myrtle Beach the next time they take the court. The Eagles will host the Seahawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Mavericks will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
