Volleyball Recap: Brewster Comes Up Short

Brewster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ursuline Koalas. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Koalas apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Brewster wouldn't go down easily and took Ursuline into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-16, 20-25, 18-25, 15-12.

Kate Merola went supernova For Ursuline., getting 18 digs and seven aces. Those seven aces gave Merola a new career-high. Caroline Tully also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Brewster's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ursuline, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Brewster will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ardsley at 4:30 p.m. on October 6. As for Ursuline, they will take on Harrison at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
