Basketball Recap: Brookings Comes Up Short

Brookings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 69-47 to the Spearfish Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Spartans are ranked 27th).

Brookings' defeat dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Spearfish, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Brookings wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-56 win against Douglas on the 28th. As for Spearfish, they have also already played their next game, a 48-42 loss against Yankton on the 28th.
