Softball Preview: Laton Mustangs vs. Alpaugh Buffalos
Laton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Alpaugh Buffalos at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Laton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Laton can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Wonderful College Prep Academy with a sharp 13-1 victory.
Evelyn Buttle was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Buttle was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Madison Heffley was incredible, going 1-for-2 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Emily Thomas was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Alpaugh lost 23-5 to Kings Christian on Friday. Alpaugh has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The win got Laton back to even at 8-8. As for Alpaugh, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Everything went Laton's way against Alpaugh when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as Laton made off with a 20-9 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Laton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
