Baseball Game Preview: Troy Trojans vs. Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES

The Troy Trojans will challenge the Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Troy is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Troy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Towanda, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted against the Black Knights since May 18, 2022.

Troy's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Gilliland, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Mason Smith was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Troy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Towanda struck out ten times.

Meanwhile, Mount Carmel was able to grind out a solid win over Wellsboro on Saturday, taking the game 6-3. The RED TORNADOES haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jon Morgante and Jason Klokis did most of the damage at the plate: Morgante went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Klokis went 1-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Yuskoski, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Troy pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Carmel, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
