Baseball Game Preview: Fruitland Grizzlies vs. Weiser Wolverines

For the second straight game, Fruitland will face off against Weiser. The Grizzlies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fruitland is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Fruitland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Weiser 19-4 on Monday. Considering the Grizzlies have won ten matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Coye Coffman made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, Jayden Grosdidier was a standout: he went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and five RBI. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Titus Vidlak, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Fruitland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weiser only posted an OBP of .323.

Fruitland's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Weiser, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7-1 record.

Weiser's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fruitland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392.
