Softball Recap: Sparkman Beats Albertville for Their Seventh Straight Win

Sparkman waltzed into their contest on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Albertville Aggies 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 back in March.

Kara Burman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bella Mayfield was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Taylor Gilreath was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Sparkman hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.

Sparkman's win bumped their record up to 30-9-1. As for Albertville, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12-3.

Sparkman and Albertville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Senators will face off against Grissom at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (11 vs. 112). Meanwhile, Albertville (ranked 173rd) will meet Guntersville (ranked 349th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
