The Riverdale Rams will face off against the Mercer County Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Riverdale made easy work of Erie-Prophetstown and carried off an 11-3 victory. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Danika Saddoris made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Saddoris was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Peterson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Breckin DeLaRosa was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Riverdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Mercer County entered their tilt with Kewanee on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Boilermakers with a sharp 11-1 victory.
Like Riverdale, Mercer County also got a great game from a two-way player: Elsie Cook. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Cook has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Mercer County got a massive performance out of Payton Ruggles, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kelsie Weeks, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Mercer County's win bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Riverdale, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Riverdale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .384. However, it's not like Mercer County struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
