Soccer Game Preview: Alexandria City vs. James Madison

The Alexandria City Titans will venture away from home to face off against the James Madison Warhawks at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Alexandria City fell victim to South County and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Stallions by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, James Madison made sure to put some goals up on the board against McLean on Monday. They walked away with a 5-3 victory over the Highlanders. The final result isn't all the surprising considering James Madison's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 24th, while McLean are ranked 109th).

James Madison's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three games. As for Alexandria City, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Alexandria City suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to James Madison in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
