Baseball Recap: Barnesville Comes Up Short

Barnesville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Frazee Hornets. Trojans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Hornets since on Thursday.

As for Frazee, the victory got them back to even at 3-3-1. The game was the first time they have beaten Barnesville on their field since May 8, 2018.

For Frazee's part, the team relied heavily on Blake Sonnenberg, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those stolen bases were Sonnenberg's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Blaine, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barnesville will venture away from home to face off against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Frazee, they will head out to square off against Lake Park-Audubon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
