Baseball Recap: Mountain View Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hunter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain View). They were the clear victor by a 21-1 margin over the Hunter Wolverines on Friday. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Noa Ioane looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Josh Hair was a standout: he scored four runs while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Dexter Clark was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Mountain View pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11 hits in those games compared to only five in the others. As for Hunter, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Mountain View and Summit Academy will meet on Monday for a tough Bear Battle. Summit Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something Mountain View will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hunter, they will square off against Timpview at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Hunter has given up an average of 19.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
